Katie Hovey is an Apparel Design & Merchandising and Public & Applied History double major from Hampstead, a small, unincorporated area on the coast of North Carolina. Katie has always believed that clothing has an undeniable impact on one’s attitude, personality, and overall self-image, and perceives clothing as the ultimate form of creative self-expression. She views clothing as art, and the person wearing them as the artist.
Katie’s collection is inspired by several works by Post-Impressionism artist, Vincent Van Gogh. Through these garments, Katie strives to create a creative, unique collection that serves as an ode to the intricacy, detail, and artistry Van Gogh showcased throughout his career. The collection is also influenced by modern couture trends, particularly the silhouettes and floral decorations seen on various runways during recent seasons.
